Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Kathryn “Kate” Beaver is an exhibiting artist in both landscape and figural genres, finding that they share interesting linear and spatial qualities unfound anywhere else, alluding to and creating ambiguous forms within each of her works.

She primarily works in mediums such as oil paint, charcoal and steel sculpture. Her work has been displayed numerous times in the Art and Design Gallery at the University of Kansas, the lobby of the Bank of Prairie Village, as well as the Mallin and Charno galleries of the Kansas City Artist’s Coalition in the River Market area.

Featured Artist #4 – Laura Herron

February 27, 2012 in Uncategorized

Laura flew from the nest in central Kansas to college to study architectural design at Kansas State in 2005.  A 2009 jump over the pond brought her to study Renaissance ideals in a tiny medieval town perched above the beautiful valleys of Tuscany, Italy.  There she met a dear and wise local artist named Gabriele Menci.  In weekly watercolor classes with him, a love of painting poppies, chickens, and the wondrous cypress tree developed and Laura caught the art bug.

Back in Kansas, she wades through various pursuits including architecture, cooking, gardening, acrylic and watercolor painting, textiles, furniture, photography, jewelry, and paper crafts -delighting in colors, flavors, and textures of the world!
