Meet your 2011-2012 WiD-KC Board:
WiD-KC leadership consists of 4 board members who serve each position for a year-long term. Each board member has a distinct role within the organization.
Director
Miranda Kumler | director@widkc.org
Since moving to Kansas City in 2007, Miranda has been an active member in the design community. She is a licensed architect and Associate at DLR Group, and is currently serving as a Pillar for the American Institute of Architects – Kansas City (www.aiakc.org). During her tenure with WiD-KC, Miranda has developed leadership skills and has enjoyed being involved in the ever-inspiring city that she has grown to love.
Past Director
Dorota Lopez | pastdirector@widkc.org
Dorota Lopez was the 2010-2011 director of Women in Design – Kansas City and enjoyed last year’s journey of Empowerment that WiD-KC provided. Ms. Lopez holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Miami, where she discovered and began developing her interest of Marketing through Architecture. She currently serves as the owner and president of Dolcie & Co., a business consulting firm, which caters to the design industry. She is inspired by interesting people, companies and organizations that are passionate and committed to sharing their unique services and products for the betterment of society. Dorota always enjoys meeting new people especially the members of our organization.
Secretary
Sara Deuel | secretary@widkc.org
Sara is a designer at Dimensional Innovations and specializes in interior design and environmental graphics. She is currently serving in the Pillars Leadership Development Program for the American Institute of Architects – Kansas City. As the Secretary, she leads the Communications committee and oversees the WiD-KC brand and image. In past years with Women in Design, Sara has served on the Mentorship committee and has also been the chairperson for the Mentorship and Communications committees. WiD-KC has helped her develop into a successful leader and given her lasting relationships with members of the design community.
Treasurer
Darcey Schumacher | treasurer@widkc.org
As a Structural Engineer, Darcey has great interest in the design community and built environment. She is a licensed engineer and Associate with Wallace Engineering where she strives to practice the art of engineering with each project and every design challenge. Darcey’s active membership with American Institute of Architects–Kansas City led to her involvement in the Pillars Leadership program for which she now serves as a member of the Steering Committee. Darcey has previously served WiD-KC as the Mentorship Committee Chair and continues to assist the Membership Committee in their mentorship endeavors. As Treasurer, Darcey will manage the program funds and budget while overseeing the Scholarship and Sponsorship Committees.
