Do you have any advice to offer young design professionals?
Call it a cliche, but networking is absolutely the way the world works now in terms of getting hired.  With advertised positions routinely attracting dozens, if not hundreds, of worhty applicants, an individual needs to find some way to stand apart from the crowded field of competitors for that one job.  Sometimes skills and experience can set someone apart, but more often than not, it’s knowing someone who is directly or even indirectly connected to the firm or organization that is hiring…”

MDR 2012 – Smashing Success!

Monster Drawing Rally 2012 was a big success!  Thanks to all the artists, event sponsors, & those who atteneded, we raised over $2000 for Shieffield Place.

Scholarship Applications due April 9, 2012!

WiD-KC’s Scholarship Application deadline is quickly approaching on April 9th.  If you are student working towards a degree in a design-related field or know someone who may qualify, please pass this information along.

In 2011, in celebration of our five year anniversary, WiD-KC established a scholarship fund designed to empower women studying in all design professions.  This scholarship is available to women at any level of study, who are in pursuit of a degree in design related fields such as Architecture/Interior Design/ Landscape Design/Industrial Design/Product Design.  Judgment for the WiD-KC scholarship is based on need, academic excellence and demonstrated leadership.  Click here to download the application.
