Women in Design Kansas City is a community of women involved in architecture and the design professions who have come together for mentorship, support, and advocacy for women in design.  We provide opportunities for working with our community to educate, enhance, explore and celebrate the historic and present contributions of women in our professions through community outreach, mentorship, programs and research.

We don’t have an official membership – WiD-KC has instead become a place for women in various design professions to meet others in their fields and to learn about ourselves through each other. As Women in Design Kansas City continues to grow we have been working towards a way of organizing ourselves to ensure great programs and events happen for our members.  Take a minute to read our progress.

WiD-KC is delighted to inform you that the AIA Diversity Recognition Program Jury has selected AIA Kansas City’s Women in Design Committee’s submission to be acknowledged as a Diversity Best Practice for the inaugural year of this program. Our submission will be recognized during various events at the AIA 2009 National Convention and Design Exhibition in San Francisco.  The theme for 2009, The Power of Diversity:  Practice in a Complex World, speaks to the goals of the Diversity Recognition Program.
